If it originated in a country which uses a lower voltage (for example 110v) make sure your device is dual voltage (indicated by 100-240 volts) otherwise you may need to use an additional transformer to prevent the device from overheating during charging. But by not knowing which plug socket is used you could pack the wrong adaptor, therefore needing to buy or borrow a suitable power adaptor when you're there which might be incompatible and cause problems with your iPhone. If planning a vacation it is useful to know in advance if you'll be able to charge all your devices like cell phones or cameras when you're there.
